CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has alleged that CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal are on a mission to weaken the communist movement in Nepal.
“They talk about being revolutionaries. But as soon as their self-interest is pushed, they deviate from the ideals of the revolution and dedicate themselves to the service of the right-wing,” Pokhrel said.

Pokharel accused leader Nepal of showing such a tendency even when he was in power. “Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who was elected as the party’s leader for three full terms, also did the same,” he added.
Both Dahal and Nepal were once part of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) formed after the merger of the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center). While NCP was split to the UML and Maoist Center as per the Supreme Court’s verdict, Nepal chose to split the UML alleging that Chairman Oli had undermined the revolutionary ideals of the party.
