CPN-UML directs NEFIN Gen Secy Bhote to withdraw amendment proposal

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: CPN-UML has directed Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) General Secretary Pemba Bhote to withdraw his amendment proposal registered to the revised bill of the new constitution. Bhote, who is also a UML lawmaker, said a senior leader of his party has ordered him to do so.


"A senior UML leader has asked me come to party office to withdraw my amendment proposal," Bhote told Republica.

"Neither have I gone to the party office nor withdrawn my amendment proposal," he said. However, he has not disclosed the name of the leader.

Earlier, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had directed all UML lawmakers to obey the party decision in letter and spirit even though CA regulation bars whip in the CA.

NEFIN Chairman Nagendra Kumal and General Secretary Bhote have registered their amendment proposals. Kumal represents Nepali Congress while Bhote had been elected to the CA on the recommendation of CPN-UML.

Major three parties have registered a common amendment proposal to the constitution bill. They have directed their lawmakers to withdraw amendment proposals registered against party-line.
