KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Cadres of the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) on Saturday burned down two trucks in Surkhet for violating a general strike imposed in the district by the party.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Surkhet, the CPN-M cadres had declared the strike demanding release of two of their cadres arrested for criminal offense.

Police had arrested Karna Singh Budha of Humla and Govinda Yogi of Dailekh on January 6 after the duo threatened a businessman for ransom.
“We arrested them on kidnapping charge since they threatened a Surkhet-based businessman of kidnapping him,” said DSP Pradeep Chhetri, chief of the DPO.
The cadres of the party had been demanding the release of the duo ever since the arrest. According to DSP Chhetri, the cadres burnt the two vehicles (Na 6 Kha 1732 and Na 6 Kha 7313) at around 2 am on Saturday.
