KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will be eligible for free burn treatment services worth up to Rs 200,000.
The metropolis on Friday handed over Rs 10 million to Kirtipur Hospital, which provides specialized burn treatment, to establish a fund for providing free treatment to Kathmandu residents who suffer burn injuries.

KMC Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol handed over the amount to the hospital on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Dangol said the fund was established to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent burn victims from receiving timely treatment.
“Burn victims may not even be in a position to speak, and they may not have money for treatment. We have established this treatment fund to ensure that burn patients receive treatment quickly and without difficulty,” she said.
According to Deepak KC, an official of KMC, the city has allocated Rs 10 million to Kirtipur Hospital for one year with the objective of providing free treatment to burn victims.
Dr Shankarman Rai, senior burn and plastic surgeon at Kirtipur Hospital, said the fund would be used exclusively for treating burn patients who are residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
“The metropolis has deposited Rs 10 million for burn patients. This is significant relief for those requiring burn treatment,” Rai said.
