The accused, identified as Sanat Dhungel, 29, of Chabahil-7 of Kathmandu was arrested from his relative´s house in Kalanki-14 within six hours of the incident.[break]
Making him public before the press on Tuesday at the Metropolitan Commissioner´s Office in Ranipokhari, the police said that the incident took place soon after both came out of a birthday party at the house of their kin.
The incident took place when Sumit allegedly attacked Dhungel with a helmet following a normal dispute. In return, Dhungel reportedly stabbed Sumit with a still unidentified object in stomach and fled the scene.
According to the preliminary investigations, the clash was a result of ego tussle. The police sources said that Dhungels were financially strong compared to the family of the deceased.
Sumit was taken to Model Hospital at Bagbazar were doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police have arrested Dhungel´s wife Kabita as well. Both of them have been remanded to seven days in police custody, according to DSP Chakra Bahadur Singh, Spokesperson at Metropolitan Police Range Office, Hanumandhoka.
