RASUWA, June 10: The shortage of construction materials has halted the repair and maintenance work of Pasang Lhamu Highway. As the local administration banned the operation of crusher plants in Dhading and Nuwakot, repair and construction works have been widely affected.Shortage of construction materials before the monsoon has compelled six construction companies to submit their application to Road Division Office (RDO), Nuwakot, stating that they will have to back out from the projects. Niraj Shakya, chief of RDO said that the companies of Rasuwa and Nuwakot have submitted the applications citing the shortage of materials.
According to Shakya, the work remains halted for the past one week. As there is abundance of budget in the current fiscal year, RDO had targeted to complete this work by mid June.
Vehicular movement halted along Pasang Lahmu Highway
A separate unit of the office has been established in the district to manage favorable environment for the regular movement of vehicles along the highway which connects Nepal with China. Chief District Officer Krishna Poudel informed Republica that the formation of the unit will help regulate the movement of vehicles especially in the monsoon.
As per the details provided by RDO, a total budget of Rs 33 million has been used for the repair and maintenance work.
