British Council has been doing a series of programs on ‘creativity’ and for Conflux, it brought musician Mark Holub and choreographer and performer Marie Forbes for free workshops on music and dance respectively.[break]
On January 2, Mark Holub gave a workshop at Moksh in Jhamsikhel on improvisation, creating compositions and relationship between music and movement.
Similarly, Marie Forbes conducted a dance workshop based on themes and ideas devised by the participants themselves on January 3.
“Out of 75 participants, 45 participants along with faculty members of KJC will be performing at the final event on January 7 at City Hall, Rastriya Sabha Griha,” informed Shanti Gurung, event manager of KJC.
The participants will be practicing till January 6 for the finale. The program will see the participants perform contemporary dance choreographed by Marie Forbes to live fusion music. The musicians who will be performing at the event are Mark Holub on drums, Subash Jung Pandey on bass, Rajat Rai on guitar, Ashesh Kulung Rai on tabla, Roshan Sharma on chaturangi and Bishwa Nepali on vocals.
Resonance, a band led by musician Subani Moktan, and The Cartoonz Crew, a Kathmandu-based B-boying dance group are the guest performers for the evening.
Conflux: Performance Concert will start at 5:30pm on January 7 at Rastriya Sabha Griha. Entrance is free.
