CoAS returns home

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Chhatraman Singh Gurung returned home from the US Wednesdya afternoon after participating in the 14th Annual Chiefs of Defense Conference on ‘Multi-Lateral Approaches to Maritime Security in Asia Pacific’ organized by the US Pacific command (US PACOM) in Hawaii, Honolulu from 17-20 October.



Acting CoAS Gaurav Shamser JB Rana and First Secretary at the US Embassy in Nepal, Timothy P Trenkle welcomed CoAS Gurung at the Tribhuvan International Airport.[break]



On the occasion, a contingent of Nepal Army offered a guard of honour to the CoAS Gurung.



The conference discussed multilateral maritime security in the Asia Pacific region, and lessons to learn from the Japan earthquake. Even the presentations were made on preparedness and management during the natural disasters.



The participants held bilateral and multilateral issues in course of the conference attended by the army chiefs from 27 countries of the Asia Pacific region.
