PATAN, Aug 15: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that it is necessary to make citizens aware rather than control them in terms of preventing the misuse of digital media.
After a training on 'Use and Impact of Digital Platforms' organized by the party's Information, Communication and Publicity Department at the party's central office in Sanepa on Thursday, General Secretary Thapa said that the Congress will focus on informing the people to do away with the wrong political practice of misusing the digital platforms.

"We believe that citizens should be made aware rather than controlled. Today's program has inspired all of us towards that end," he said, while adding that as long as citizens cannot distinguish who gave them what information and why, problems will continue to arise.
Constituent Assembly member and department member Deepak Prasad Kuinkel emphasized that digital media is connected to people's lifestyles and stressed the need to become vigilant in its use.
