KATHMANDU, May 19: A new corruption case has been filed against Sunil Paudel, the former executive director of the National Information Technology Center (NITC) on Monday.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against former Executive Director Sunil Paudel, former Assistant Director Ramesh Pokharel, and three others. The case demands the recovery of approximately Rs 57.9 million in losses. According to the CIAA's findings, during Paudel’s tenure, irregularities were found in the procurement of equipment at the NITC.
CIAA files fifth case against Sunil Paudel

The investigation revealed that the procurement was carried out without preparing a public procurement plan, and the cost estimates were manipulated to match pre-determined technical specifications. It was found that detailed quotations were submitted in collusion, indicating coordinated corruption.
The charge sheet names Sunil Paudel, along with the former Assistant Director of the Center, Ramesh Pokhrel, Computer Engineer Ramsharan Gayak, Accounts Officer Nim Bahadur Wali, Max International Pvt. Ltd., located in Putalisadak, and its CEO Akbar Hussain as defendants.
Paudel is already facing a case in the Special Court. In mid-February (Magh), a corruption case was filed against him, demanding a recovery of Rs 38 million in losses.
