KATHMANDU, Oct 2: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case at the Special Court on Sunday against Gyanhari Lama, a resident of Kathmandu Gokarneshwor Municipality, on charges of giving false statements as a government witness.
In the case against defendant Yogendra Dhungel, Lama, who is a government witness, was found to have made a false statement and the CIAA filed a case at the Special Court claiming a fine of Rs 150,000.
Similarly, the CIAA has also filed a case at the court against Dev Bahadur Thapa of Naumule Rural Municipality, Dailekh after it was found that non-gazetted first-class official Pramod Pandey of the Department of Foreign Employment, of Buddhanagar, Kathmandu had given a false statement in a corruption-related case.
The CIAA has alleged that Thapa, who was presented as a government witness in the case before the Special Court, gave false statements. CIAA Spokesperson Bhola Dahal stated that a case has been filed demanding imprisonment and a fine of Rs 30,000.
