Case filed against Sugam gas proprietor Ghimire

ITAHARI, March 14: After eight months of consultations with the Office of the District Attorney, Office of Cottage and Small Industries in Sunsari on Wednesday eventually filed a case against Shiva Prasad Ghimire, the proprietor of Sugam Gas Company.



According to Ramananda Sharma, chief of the Office of Cottage and Small Industries, Sunsari the case has been filed as per the Consumer Protection Act-2054. [break]



In a raid conducted by government officials, Ghimire was found to have been selling gas cylinders of other companies by putting his company´s logo on them. As per the consumer act, a person who risks consumers´ lives can be sentenced to 14 years in jail and fined up to Rs 500,000.



Office of the District Attorney had given its legal advice to the Office of Cottage and Small Industries to book Ghimire under the consumer act.



Previously, District Administration Office of Sunsari had released Ghimire after he deposited a bail amount of Rs 3,843,000. Government officials had seized over 15,000 tampered gas cylinders from Ghimire´s company.
