BUSINESS BRIEFS: NCCCI, TFIC sign MoU

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCCI) and Tibet Federation of Industry and Commerce (TFIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen trade and economic relations between Nepal and China.



Rajesh Kaji Shrestha of NCCCI and Ngapo Jigyuan of TFIC signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. [break]Issuing a press statement, NCCCI said both the associations have agreed to share information related to trade, investment, technical transfer and economic cooperation.



Shrestha said the agreement with TFIC has paved the way for promotion of trade with China Similarly, Ngapo Jigyuan of TFIC said the MoU would help take the historical trade relationship between Nepal and China to a new height.



Citizen Bank opens four branches



Citizens Bank International Limited has opened branches in four places -- Kapan, Narayan Gopal Chowk, Madhyapur Thimi and Kirtipur. With the inauguration of the new branches, the bank now has altogether of 26 branches. Issuing a press statement, the bank said that it will be providing various services ranging from remittance, ATM service and loan service among others. The bank is planning to open new branches in Janakpur and Karnali zones within this fiscal year.


Valley Finance´s new ATM



Valley Finance has installed an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at its head office in Maharagunj. Issuing a press statement, the company informed that it had recently opened a branch at Itahari and has also issued shares to common people. The company plans to expand new branches in Birtamod of Jhapa and New Road of Kathmandu very soon. It is starting ABBS service in the new future. Customers can open account with zero balance and can enjoy 10 to 11 percent interest, the statement added.



Pashupati Paints launches new scheme



Pashupati Paints, a leading manufacturer of Nepali paints, which has been functioning for the last 25 years, has introduced a new scheme under "khushiko atuut bandhan", meaning ´unbreakable bond of happiness´.



Under the new scheme, painters will have opportunities to win attractive prizes ranging from Honda Bikes, LCD TVs, home appliances, to electronic goods and carpets. The prizes are valid for certain products of Pashupati Paints like Ex-Coat Plus, Luxuria, Ex- Coat, Oneway, Nepolite, Nepolin Exterior & Interior Emulsion, Danfe Enamel, Exterior Primer, Nepolin Distemper, Wall Putty and Puja Distemper. To avail the scheme, painters can simply fill the form at any Pashupati Paint outlets across Nepal. "This innovative scheme will definitely increase our bond further with painters," the company said in a press release.



NTA penalizes Ncell



Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA) has decided to slap a fine of Rs 5,000 to Spice Nepal Ltd - the operator of Ncell - for launching the ´Dial 9090´ scheme without seeking its permission.



“We decided to penalize Spice Nepal as per the Telecommunication Act as it was found imposing call tariff more than what NTA had approved,” said Kailash Prasad Neupane, the spokesperson of NTA.



According to the Telecom Act 2053 Section 47 (2), NTA can slap a fine of Rs 500,000 and ask the operator to close the service started without seeking its permission.

NTA had directed Spice Nepal to suspend the service about three weeks ago. The telecom regulator on Friday directed Ncell to stop the service and refund the money spent by the users. Ncell has already refunded the amount spent by the users.
