Army Chief in Rajbiraj
LAHAN: Chief of Army Staff General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung arrived Rajbiraj on Wednesday to inspect army barracks. Gurung inspected Choharba-based Shree Nath Battalion and Rajbiraj-based Shree Mehar Battalion. In what is said to be a confidential visit, media persons were not allowed to enter army barracks.
The army chief is accompanied by NA´s Eastern Division headquarters Chief Major General Narendra Rawal. Gurung is scheduled to call on Saptari district Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Adhikari including the security chiefs of the district on Wednesday night to inquire about the security situation of the Tarai region.
Local youths attack banda organizers
DHARAN: Local youths attacked supporters of the ethnic outfit Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajya as they tried to enforce banda in Tarahara bazaar, Sunsari on Wednesday. At least one cadre, identified as Deuman Limbu, was injured seriously, prompting the supporters of the ethnic outfit to enforce the strike more strictly.
The injured was being treated at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Dambar Kajum, chairman of the outfit, said that despite the minor scuffle with locals, they were successful in enforcing the strike. Though the strike affected life in other parts of the district, shops at major bazaars remained open defying the banda.
