KHOTANG, June 30: The dead bodies of two of the passengers killed in Friday's jeep accident in Solukhumbu are still to be handed over to their families as they could not be transported to their villages by helicopter due to bad weather.
All seven passengers on board had died after the ill-fated jeep en route to Salleri from Nechasalyan Rural Municipality-2, Salyan veered off the road and plunged some 600 meters below the cliff. The incident site is on the border of Solududhkunda Municipality-11, Tingla and Solukhumbu's Salyan, near Gupteshwar Mahadev temple.
Erratic weather forces Faplu airport's shutdown
Among the seven deceased, the bodies of Shiva Kumar Yadav, 36, of Siraha and Kopila Basnet, 24, of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-4, Khalle are still stuck in Faplu Hospital. Their bodies were sent to the hospital for postmortem. Inspector Pradhyumna Adhikari of the District Police Office(DPO), Solukhumbu informed that the family members of the deceased tried to take the dead bodies to their village by a helicopter but could not do so due to bad weather.
Deceased Yadav is a forester while Karki is a forest guard by profession. The reason behind the accident is still to be ascertained as there was no one around and none of the passengers on board are alive.
