Banks to open for half a day despite public holiday today

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has instructed the banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to operate essential banking services today despite it being a public holiday. After the government announced a public holiday today, the central bank issued a notice and instructed all BFIs to operate at least the essential services.

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has instructed the banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to operate essential banking services today despite it being a public holiday. After the government announced a public holiday today, the central bank issued a notice and instructed all BFIs to operate at least the essential services.


NRB has asked the BFIs to provide essential banking services including cash transactions, check clearing, and RTGS.

"This notice has been issued to make arrangements to resume services by keeping the necessary departments and offices of the banks and financial institutions open from 10 AM to 1:30 PM to provide essential banking services such as cash transactions, check clearing, RTGS, etc.," the notice states.


The government has announced a public holiday today on the occasion of the Maoist People's War Day.
