KANCHANPUR, Aug 31: After finding Nirmala Pant' body, police personnel washed the suruwal worn by her in order to destroy evidence, it has been learnt. Although police are supposed to take precautions to preserve evidence at the scene of a suspected crime, their act of washing a clothing item which was worn by the victim and which could contain valuable evidence such as blood and other body fluids, has raised further suspicions about their motives.

KANCHANPUR, Aug 29: On July 27, Nirmala Pant of Bhimdatta Municipality-2 had gone to her friend's house to study but she was raped and subsequently murdered. Immediately after finding her lifeless body, her family and relatives launched protests to pressurize the police and the authorities concerned to launch investigation into the case and take action against whoever was responsible for the heinous crime.

KANCHANPUR, Aug 24: Durga Devi Pant of Bhimdutta Municipality-18 became anxious after her 13- year-old daughter Nirmala, who had gone to her friend Roshani Bam's house in the morning of July 26, hadn't returned by evening . She, along with the villagers, requested the police to look into the matter. She remained at the police station till 2 AM to get them to do something. But the police dismissed her requests.

KANCHANPUR, Aug 22: Police on Monday arrested Dilip Bista of Bhimdatta Municipality-19 on the charge of raping and murdering 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Bhimdatta Municipality-18 a few weeks ago. However, locals and the family members have accused the police and the local authorities of framing an innocent person with an ill intention of protecting the real perpetrator.
