LAHAN, Feb 17: On Wednesday, Udayapur Police arrested two youths from the border while they were transporting 917 ampoules of liquid drugs from India into Nepal. Police have has filed a complaint against the arrestees Ganesh Gupta, 26, and Om Prakash Rai of Triyuga Municipality-6 on the charge of drug peddling.

SIRAHA, Feb 4: Locals of Siraha have ended their 33-day long relay hunger strike on Saturday after the government reportedly awarded the contract to construct two vital brides over the Kamala and Balan rivers along the Postal Highway in the district to new construction companies.
The driver of the excavator has been at large since the accident. Inspector Basnet informed Republica that the driver is an Indian national and does not have a driving license. It has been revealed that the excavator belongs to Pramod Yadav of Siraha, Hakpada.
LAHAN, Jan 29: On Saturday, Superintendent of Police Balaram Pokharel of the Armed Police Office (APF) lost his life after the jeep (Ba 1 Jha 1633) he was traveling in bumped into a parked tractor-trailer near Pasaha Bridge along the Pathlaiya-Nijgadh road section. Four more persons including Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Bhattarai were injured in the fatal accident.

That is the reason why people opt for government hospitals and birthing centers for delivering babies. As guaranteed in the Safe Motherhood Program of the government, public hospitals must provide free maternity service. However, free maternity service is limited only to papers, according to pregnant women seeking such service.

LAHAN, Dec 30: Police recently destroyed 500 cannabis plants in Golbazar Municipality-2, Tudkiya. Though police destroyed such a large amount of cannabis, they did not punish a single person for growing the plant illegally.
SIRAHA, Dec 20: It has been decades since Mana Maya Magar, 73, of Deurali village of Mirchaiya municipality – 9, has been fetching water from Ghurmi River. Even though the river’s water is not clean, her family doesn’t have any alternative for drinking water. She suffers from poor health, yet, there is no choice than to perform household chores. “I cannot work that as hard as I used to but still I do all that I can do,” she states.
SIRAHA, Dec 11: Known for his crusade for reforms in the country's medical education, senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has conducted free health camps in poverty-stricken settlements in Siraha district. Dr KC who arrived here in Lahan on Sunday, provided free health check-up to the locals in two nearby settlements of poor and marginalized communities on Monday.
