SIRAHA, May 20: Dhangadimai Municipality of Siraha has developed a smartphone application to improve public service delivery and good governance. The app has been introduced to enhance people's access to the development works carried out by the municipality.
SIRAHA, May 19: Despite being enrolled in school for the last five years, Santoshi Kumari cannot read and write her name. She had joined school when she was five years old and now she is 10. However, the fifth grader was never taught alphabets in school. She admits was not regular to school either.
SIRAHA, May 18: Only a Madhesi woman knows how challenging it is for women of her community to step out of their houses and explore the outer world. Earlier, engaging themselves in income-generating works by putting aside their stoves and shovels was something of a dream for a lot of women and it still is for many. But Ramjhari Yadav of Aurahi Rural Municipality-4, Khajanpur, has dared to make this dream come true. Today, she is attracting women into business through her Integrated Women Agriculture Farm.

LAHAN, April 23: The government has launched a special campaign in Siraha to encourage people to sponsor the education of children who are out of school because of poverty. Named 'One child's admission, my social responsibility', the campaign aims to bring more children to school in the district where some 1,600 children of school going age are still deprived of education. The campaign also encourages people to accept the guardianship of deprived children.
SIRAHA, April 17: A few days ago, Rameshwar Prasad Yadav, the in-charge of Majhaura Health Post of Nawarajpur Rural Municipality, was found checking the health of one and half years old Kritika Yadav by holding her wrist in his hand, trying to examine her pulse rate. He was not using even a stethoscope because the health post doesn't have one. The health post lacks other minor medical tools required for checking blood pressure, cough and other problems.

LAHAN, April 6 Police took into custody three individuals here including a woman Wednesday on suspicion of involvement in the buying and selling of illegal gold . Sandip Soni, a local jewelry shop owner was caught while buying gold bracelets weighing 50 grams but was released later. However, police kept Mohammad Sajabul Shaikh of Kalyanpur Municipality-1under judicial custody after confiscating some drugs and a bullet from him.
SIRAHA, April 1: What a farmer really wants is better irrigation for his land. For Mukti Lal Singh, 55, of Bandipur, a remote village in the western part of the district, a river is not far from his wheat fields.
