KATHMANDU, April 7: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has appointed Advocate Gobinda Prasad Sharma (Koirala), popularly known as Gobinda Bandi, as the new law minister.
According to the Office of the President, Bandi has been appointed as a cabinet minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. He will replace incumbent law minister Dilendra Prasad Badu.

Bandi had played an important role in endorsing the MCC grant agreement through parliament. He was one of the advocates involved in preparing the Interpretive Declaration to help endorse the grant agreement.
Since he is not a member of parliament, Bandi can be a minister for only six months. He needs to be a member of the federal parliament in order to continue further as a cabinet minister.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Deuba has shuffled the responsibility of Minister Badu who has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, which remained vacant for months.
A senior leader of the ruling alliance said Prime Minister Deuba is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet. The leader said that Prime Minister Deuba wants to keep the Finance Ministry with NC keeping in view the possible financial crisis in the country. “The Prime Minister is looking for a new Finance Minister who can ensure close coordination with Nepal Rastra Bank to help avoid the country from plunging into a financial crisis,” said the leader.
