Senior Advocate Ramesh Badal appointed as Attorney General

KATHMANDU, July 17: President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed Senior Advocate Ramesh Badal as the new Attorney General of Nepal. Badal was appointed to the post on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

KATHMANDU, July 17: President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed Senior Advocate Ramesh Badal as the new Attorney General of Nepal. Badal was appointed to the post on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.


As per the constitutional provision, the President appoints the Attorney General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. Badal is a former attorney general.

During the previous tenure of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Badal was the Attorney General for about four months from March 2021 to June 2021.


The Attorney General, --the chief legal advisor to the government-- leads the government lawyers who prosecute and defend governmental cases.
