KATHAMANDU, Jan 26: DCC Birgunj won the inaugural match of the Birgunj Premier League T20 cricket event by 14 runs against home side Birgunj Stars held in Birgunj on Saturday.
DCC posted a total of 125 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs before limiting Stars to 111 runs in 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets.
Saifullah Ansari was the pick of the bowlers, registering four wickets conceding 23 runs off his four overs in the second innings defending the paltry total.
Samsad Ali Mansuri, Jitendra Yadav and Hari Krishna Jha chipped in with two and a wicket each to help limit the Stars from the chasing the total. Bibek Kumar Yadav and Harishankar Shah contributed 33 and 25 runs respectively.
Earlier, DCC was invited to bat first. Player-of-the-match Hari Krishna Jha top-scored with 53 runs off 58 deliveries which included two boundaries and sixes each.
Likewise, Samsad Ali contributed 47 runs to share a partnership of 103 runs for the fourth with Jha.
Bhulawan Sahani picked up two wickets whereas Babujan Ansari and Bibek Kumar Yadav shared a wicket each.
Singh Lions XI will face Dragons of Sahib Durbar in the first match on Sunday followed by Rautahat Rhinos versus DCC match.
