Tripartite MoU inked for reconstruction of 24 quake-hit schools

National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Norwegian Embassy to Nepal and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a project for the reconstruction of 24 quake-hit schools in various districts. 

NC leader calls for proper action against House Speaker Mahara

Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh has called for proper action against Parliament Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara who stepped down from the post on Tuesday following sexual harassment accusations.

Speaking at a function in the capital on Wednesday, Singh said that both the government and police administration have a chance to win the people's heart by taking proper action against Speaker Mahara over such a grave allegation.

Parliament Secretariat issues notice over Mahara's resignation

In a notice on Wednesday, the Federal Parliament Secretariat stated House Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara stepped down from his post.

The notice has paved a way for holding an election to elect a new House Speaker. As per the instruction from Deputy Speaker Shivamaya Tumbahamphe, the notice has been published in line with the House Regulations 2075.

Bridge over Molung river in Okhaldhunga remains incomplete even after six years

Although contractor Rajendra Construction Company won the bid of constructing a bridge over Molung river at Mandre Dovan in Okhaldhunga along Okhaldhunga-Saghutar road section some six years ago, the bridge has not been completed yet.

Taliban to visit Pakistan, discuss failed Afghan peace talks

An Afghan Taliban delegation will visit Pakistan on Wednesday, the insurgent group said, the latest stop on a tour of regional powers after an Afghanistan peace process broke down.

A delegation of Taliban members, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, one of the group’s founders, will discuss “important issues” with Pakistani officials in the capital, Islamabad, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen said on Twitter.

Badminton team selected for 13th SAG

Nepal Badminton Association has finalized the names of players for upcoming 13th South Asian Games (SAG) on Wednesday. 

According to secretary of Association Nabin Bikram Shah, a total of ten male and ten female players have been included in the final list out of 17 male and female players each who were in the close-camp after 8th National Games.
