Taplejung inferno damage pegged at Rs 90m

TAPLEJUNG, Nov 6: A property worth around 90 million rupees was reduced to ashes in the district headquarters inferno on Monday afternoon.



Five houses were gutted in the fire damaging a property of around Rs 70,497,134 while property worth 14,195,000 rupees were destroyed on partial destruction of the houses while containing control, said DSP Govinda Prasad Acharya of Taplejung District Police Office. [break]



The fire that started from Kaji Maden’s house had gutted 7 houses in Fungling VDC-7.



Some eight houses had to be demolished partially in course of taking inferno under control.



Meanwhile, 15 families of five houses were provided 9,000 rupees each as fire relief on Wednesday.



Likewise, Nepal Red Cross Society has distributed relief materials including  tents, blankets, utensils, food stuffs to the families of the fire victims, said CDO Prakash Paudel who is the coordinator of Disaster Management Committee.



Earlier, fire had destroyed 53 houses - 45 and 8 houses in 2060 BS and in 2069 BS respectively - in Taplejung district.
