CHITWAN, April 10: Bharatpur Metropolitan City recently signed an agreement with Central South University (CSU) of China to provide full and partial scholarships to 70 students of the metropolis every year.
CSU is one of the top-ranked universities of China. As per the agreement, 20 students will be offered full scholarships while 50 of them will receive partial scholarships. Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal and Professor Thanh Xuan of CSU signed the agreement amid a program on Tuesday. Thanh is also the dean of Xiangya Nursing School (XNS). This agreement will be valid for the next five years.

According to Professor Thanh, students from more than 100 countries are studying in CSU. With the agreement, Bharatpur has become the first local unit in Nepal to sign an agreement with CSU.
Professor Thanh urged the metropolis to provide this opportunity for genuine and hard-working students who can make the best out of it. Those students who will be provided with this opportunity are expected to do something for the welfare of the country after completing their education.
Informing that XNS under CSU was established 107 years ago as the first nursing school of China, Professor Thanh said, "Students of Bharatpur interested in any field including nursing can join CSU." CSU has been running 217 educational programs for masters degree and PhD and 94 programs for undergraduate level.
Meanwhile, Mayor Renu Dahal stated that this agreement has been signed to maintain a smooth relation with the neighboring country. According to her, this agreement will provide a great opportunity for Nepali students to study in an international university.
"This agreement will help for the socio-cultural exchange between the two countries," said Mayor Dahal. She is hopeful that this opportunity will help in increasing the number of skilled manpower in the country.
