When asked about the situation, the office assistant at Baitadi-Darchula Road Section Office, Rajendra Singh said," I have been working here alone for couple of days and I don´t know where all the others have gone.”
“The office chief left for Kathmandu a few weeks ago has not come back yet," he said, adding he and dozer operator Gambhir Singh Dhami were taking care of the office.
However, he was quick to defend his seniors, saying that the office doesn´t have adequate officials and the responsibility of the chief also compels him travel to places most of the time.
When contacted over the phone, Chief of the Baitadi-Darchula Road Section Project Sanjaya Shrestha said that they will need more time to clear the obstructed road section.
“We need to blast the boulders and large stones that have been left by the flood and this process will take some time,” he added.
