KALIKOT, Oct 9: Five members from the same family of the local Dhruvaraj Bista went missing after a landslide that occurred in Baligaun, Tilagufa Municipality-7 of Kalikot district swept away by landslide.
Bista’s 35-year-old wife Mamata, 15-year-old son Bharat, 13-year-old son Kripesh and 11-year-old daughter Janie Bista went missing after the house was swept away by a landslide at 10:30 AM on Sunday, according to District Police Chief Jayashwar Rimal.

According to Rimal, two houses of Dhruvaraj and the house of his neighbor were swept away by the landslide. Police said that it was difficult to search for the missing persons due to continuous rain for the last five days. Even though a team of eight police personnel reached the incident site, they could not conduct a search due to the landslide.
Meanwhile, police said that Jorasingh Shahi's 80-year-old mother, Lalka Shahi, also went missing when his house located in Bhaisegoda, Tilagufa Municipality-6 was buried by a landslide. According to locals, they were inside the house when the landslide collapsed it.
The incessant rainfall for the past few days has affected normal life in Kalikot. Karnali Highway and Karnali Corridor are blocked due to landslides. Roads have collapsed due to the rains and a number of houses have been destroyed in Raskot, Sannitriveni and Shubhakalika rural municipalities.
