58 fuel tankers enter Nepal thru Rupaidiha, Jogbani

NEPALGUNJ/BIRGUNJ, Nov 15: Some fuel tankers stuck at the Indian side of the border have been allowed to cross into Nepal through Rupaidiha and Jogbani border points on Sunday.  

A total of 31 tankers carrying fuel entered Nepal through Rupaidiha border point while 27 such vehicles entered through Jogbani transit point.
According to the Area Police Office of Jamunaha, Nepalgunj, a total of 75 trucks, including 31 laden with petroleum products, entered the country from Rupaidiha border point. Among them, 24 were carrying diesel, three each petrol and ATF and one was carrying kerosene. Besides those carrying petroleum products, another 44 cargo vehicles entered the country.

Assistant Police Inspector Hari Gurung of Jamunaha claimed that was the highest number of fuel tankers entering Nepal in two weeks.

According to him, six tankers carrying diesel, four laden with aviation fuel and 33 trucks with other goods had entered through the border on Friday.

Indian customs officials had stopped cargo trucks from entering Nepal through Birgunj border point since around past two months citing orders from higher authorities. Only a few trucks were being allowed to enter through the border since then.

Among the 27 petroleum products laden vehicles that entered the country through Jogbani transit points, 18 contained diesel and five each carrying petrol and LPG, according to Morang District Police Office (DPO).

According to the DPO, a total of 193 consignment trucks have entered the country through Jogbani border point in the last five days.
