Dambar Kumari Nepal, 17, who went through an operation two months ago, participated in the rally in her crutch. The rally started from Nanglo Café in Durbar Marg to Kamal Pokhari, Charkhal, Putalisadak and ended in Bhrikuti Mandap.

Actor Hari Bansha Acharya and Chairman of Road Safety Society Nepal, Kush Kumar Joshi, supported the petition put forward by Event Coordinator Amrita Gyawali. “Let us create a barrier free environment where everyone feels dignified, movable everywhere and realize self respect,” she said. The proposal demands separate ramps for wheelchairs and provision of traffic signals through sound for visually impaired.
Gyawali added, “We are in talks with Road Safety Society Nepal, Karuna Foundation, Joining Hands Nepal, The Hidden Treasure, SOS Children’s Villages, Creating Possibilities and Cyber Sansar for further programs to make this proposal effective. We are also planning to come up with other programs to create awareness among people and the government.”
