Even in his 50s, singer Sanjay Shrestha claims to feel young at heart. He initiated his musical journey in 1992 with his band, Crossroads. The group’s debut album – Naya Mod, comprising songs like 'Anjan Mayalu', 'Tyo Mutu Lai', and the evergreen 'Maya Meri Maya' – helped establish the band in the Nepali music realm. Together, Crossroad released six albums. and still gets together to perform in occasional gigs. As for Shrestha, he is mostly engaged in contributing creative inputs for the advertisements of leading Nepali brands.
In an interview with My City's Sonam Lama, the musical icon of the 90s -- Sanjay Shrestha -- revealed his five fascinating facts.

Love for colon
Smelling good is essential for him. However, he doesn't have a favorite collection as he likes experimenting with the diverse smell of colons. "The gender categorization of colons doesn’t matter to me. All that I care about is its aroma," explained Shrestha.
Bizarre foodie
From camel to crocodile, and kangaroo to octopus, he has savored every bit of bizarre food while on his visit around the globe. "I am fond of seafood. However, camel and kangaroo did not really please my taste buds", revealed the singer.
Fitness freak
He has been exercising for the past 35 years and admits that it is his secret to physical fitness. The 6 footer spends at least an hour in the gym, on a daily basis, and hardly cuts on his daily diet to stay healthy. As he also fancies following the trends, he is equally fascinated with the idea of bodybuilding, and tattooing.
Has an immaculate sense of humor
For him, life is all taking it easy. A fun lover at heart, he can be a prankster when in a mischievous mood. "I remember a musical tour to Bhairahawa. I played a prank on two of my friends by squeezing toothpaste on their pillows. As there was no light in the room, my prank worked," laughed Shrestha.
Branding genius
Shrestha’s contribution in the advertisement domain has helped the consumers grasp the brand names of various leading Nepali companies. He has provided creative input to Wai Wai’s “Hami Sabai Ko Wai Wai” jingle, NTC’s soothing advertisement score, and the television branding campaign of Shikhar Shoes that features Deepak Raj Giri.
