The lady lamp of the popular dancing squad Cartoonz Crew, Aashma Biswokarma has been B-boying for the past nine years and has won numerous solo and group b-boying battles along the way. She and her crew have been stealing the spotlight with their act in popular videos including ‘Jaal ma’, ‘Pani Paryo’, ‘Nai Malai Thah Chaina’, ‘Relli Mai’, ‘Dante Mohani’, etc.
In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Biswokarma – Nepal’s first ‘B-girl’ revealed some of her lesser-known secrets.

Obsessed with Barbie dolls
Behind the B-Girl that she is, there lies a meek and soft personality who is absolutely fascinated by fictions and Barbie. She admits of being hooked onto Barbie movies and series, including Princess and the Pop Star, Life in a Dream House, etc. “I love watching Barbie series repeatedly. I don’t say no to any Barbie gifts,” said Biswokarma.
Make-up enthusiast
She considers Ariana Grande as her makeup idol. However, her makeup is usually aligned with her mood, and the occasion and place that she is visiting. Kylie, Lakme, and Revlon are some of the brands that she frequently uses. “I prefer doing makeup on my own,” she states.
First Nepali B-girl
Winning numerous B-boying battles, she has gained the title as the first Nepali B-girl. “I had a tough time in the beginning. The B-boying scenario was unfamiliar to me. Now, it feels great to see so many B-girls,” she added.
Designs her wardrobe
It was after numerous experiment failures that she finally gained confidence in flaunting her designs. “I often feel like running some experiments with my clothes. It is fun watching the sleeves of the top turn into an off-shoulder and your trousers into shorts,” she quipped.
Passionate singer
She found her interests in singing while in school and has been pursuing it to this day. She likes recording cover versions of popular songs and posting them on Instagram. She draws her inspiration from Melina Rai, Chris Brown and Ariana Grande.
