KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The Home Ministry is making an arrangement for two Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs) Madan Bahadur Khadka and Arjun Jung Shahi, who were reinstated to their posts after the Special Court on February 13 acquitted them of Sudan scam, to report to the ministry itself.

The ministry is making the arrangement as the government promoted two DIGs by creating two ´special posts´ of AIGs after then AIGs Khadka and Shahi were suspended on the charge of their involvement in Sudan scam. [break]

“Nepal Police Headquarters does not have any vacant positions to adjust the reinstated AIGs,” said a source at the police headquarters. The source added that there will be vacancy of AIGs only after four AIGs retire after six months. Interestingly, Khadka and Shahi will also retire after six months.

The total number of AIGs in Nepal Police has now become 10 with the reinstatement of Khadka and Shahi. AIGs Khadka and Shahi, including 29 other police officers, were acquitted by the Special Court.

The government had created two ´special posts´ of AIGs shortly after the two were suspended after facing corruption charges. The Home Ministry then promoted Nawa Raj Dhakal and Bhisma Prasain to fill the vacant positions.
