The new fire spread through ward number 1, 2, 7 and 8 number. Four homes of two families - Ram Kishun Yadav of ward no 1 and Ram Nath Sadaaya of ward no 8 - were destroyed by the fire, said local Santosh Yaday. Sirah Police Chief Rajesh Lal Karna confirmed the fresh outbreak of fire but said the cause was not immediately known. [break]
Santosh Yadav, who returned to his burnt out village from Kathmandu said it was difficult just to find where his house once stood.
“I heard the news of massive fire in village through media. I was at Kathmandu on a personal business then. After reading the news, I was restless to return but did not get a ticket. I got ticket for Wednesday night and reached in the village on Thursday morning. But the village was unrecognizable to me. Where there were rows of houses in the past, I only found burnt out remains now,” said Santosh. He said it took him about four hours to find the remains of his house.
“All burnt out structures looked alike, I was unable to recognize my own house,” he said. He could only located where his house once stood after seeing his father Bechan who was dousing remnants of fire with a bucket of water.
“I was unable to think anything at that moment,” he added, “I hope this tragedy doesn´t happen to anyone.” Now his four members´ family is under a single tent .
Meanwhile, distribution of relief materials, which could not begin on Thursday following stiff resistance from the fire victims, failed to resume on Friday as well. The victims have refused to accept relief materials saying Nepal Red Cross Society has left out many victims. The Red Cross has listed only 347 households for relief materials. But the victims say at least 541 households need relief materials.
"In our society, every married son lives separately with his family. But, the Red Cross has counted all married sons and their families as a single family," Bechan Yadav, one of the fire victims, said.
