UDAYAPUR, April16: Two houses were destroyed by a fire that started on Sunday evening in Udayapurgadhi rural municipality-7. Houses of Hasta Bahadur Sarki and Mandhwoj Sarki were gutted by the fire.
According to police, the fire started from the Hasta Bahadur’s kitchen and quickly spread to the two houses built from dry woods and grass at around 5 pm yesterday.

The fire destroyed property worth Rs. 500,000. In lack of fire extinguishers, local residents battled hard to douse the fire.
The fire was contained after four hours, Superintendent of Police at District Police Office, Udayapur said. “Since the fire broke out during the day, there were no human or livestock casualties,” Bhatta said.
