UDAYAPUR, Jan 17: As many as five houses of Rautamai Rural Municipality of Udayapur were gutted after a massive fire broke out on Monday.
The fire which started from a house at Iname in Rautamai-1 destroyed a total of five houses and caused property damage worth Rs 1.7 million, police said. According to the District Police Office (DPO) Udayapur, the fire started from the house of a local Rana Bahadur BK later engulfed the adjoining houses. As per the preliminary investigation, some children had had started a fire inside a thatched house which went out of control.
Fire guts two houses in Udayapur
The houses of Karna Bahadur BK, Megh Bahadur BK, Parshuram BK and Chitra Bahadur BK were also turned into ashes. Victims said their everything including food, clothes and important documents were destroyed in the fire.
With the co-operation of locals, Police had doused the fire within two hours. After losing their houses, victims have been sheltering in the house of their neighbors. Spokesperson of DPO, Udayapur, Meghraj Adhikari informed that they have requested the authorities to provide emergency relief to the victims.
