KALIKOT, Dec 24 : At least 87 houses were destroyed in a massive fire that broke out at Khada village of Palata Rural Municipality in Kalikot district on Sunday night.
Chief District Officer Chandra Bahadur Karki told Republica Online that at least 87 houses burnt down in the fire.

The fire broke out at local resident Nabin Neupane’s house at around 2 am and spread to other houses of the village, according to Laxman Bahadur Bam, the chairman of Palata Rural Municipality.
Earlier, the authorities said that 30 houses were burnt down in the fire.
CDO Karki said that the local administration is trying its best to douse the fire in the remote village. Karki informed that they are yet to ascertain the cause behind the incident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Devendra Malla told Republica Online that three separate police teams have been deployed to douse the fire. “The fire has not come under control yet,” he added.
