BARA, Oct 14: Four persons were killed and 23 others injured, in two separate accidents involving passenger buses in Bara district on Friday.
Bibek Shrestha of Birgunj-9 and Rajdhan Srivastav, were killed when a passenger bus met with an accident at Simara early Friday morning.[break]
Seven were injured who were taken to the Narayani Sub Regional Hospital, Birgunj.
Of the injured, the bus driver, Birodh Poudel, and a passenger, Raj Kumar Srivastav are in critical condition.
Both of them have been referred for further treatment, hospital sources said. The other five have received normal treatment.
The bus (Na 3 Kha 3516) was heading to Birgunj from Pokhara when the bus overturned on the road near Hulas Steel company in Simara-2 at around 3:30 this morning .
Over-speeding is suspected to be the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, two persons were killed and 16 others injured at Sishaniya Chowk along the Kalaiya-Birgunj road section late Friday morning.
Irshad Miya, a cyclist, of Bisrampur-3 of the district was killed being struck by a speeding bus (Na 3 Kha 2106) at around 11:30 am, police said. He died on the spot.
Likewise, a passenger of the bus, was killed after the bus lost its control and overturned on the road. The deceased’s identity is yet to be established.
Of the injured, two are said to be in critical condition. Both of them have been receiving treatment at Narayani Sub Regional Hospital in Birgunj.
The other 14 injured have been undergoing general treatment at the district hospital, Bara.
Early this morning, two persons were killed and seven others injured when a bus bound for Birgunj from Pokhara met with an accident in Simara of the same district.
