The tournament features Elephant Race, Boat Race, Bullock Cart Race, Elephant Football, Elephant Beauty Contest and Cart Race. The organizers have trained 20 elephants for the race and as many calves for the football competition.
Bachhauli Village Development Committee, Mrigakunja Consumers Committee, Baghmara Buffer Zone Community Forest, Chitrasen Buffer Zone Community Forest, United Elephant Management Cooperative Limited, Sauraha Tourism Entrepreneurs Group as well as Restaurant and Bar Association of Sauraha are the co-sponsors of the event.

KATHMANDU: Trinity College emerged victorious on Tuesday in The Professional Gyan Carnival Inter-college Basketball Tournament being held at Gyanodaya College´s court. Trinity thrashed VS Niketan 63-28 in group D match dominating all the quarters. Trinity scored 13-7, 17-4, 12-9, 21-8 for the comfortable victory. Dhan Gurung scored 15 points for the winning team. Einstein College received walkover from Rato Bangala.
Teresa, Wilson set up final clash
KATHMANDU: Teresa Academy and Wilson Academy set up final clash winning their respective semifinal matches on Tuesday in the Second Valley-wide Inter School Senior Boys´ Basketball Tournament. In the first semifinal played at the court of Nepal Central School, Teresa registered narrow margin 54-50 win over Innovative. In another semifinal, Wilson defeated Opel 42-23.
Marwari T20 tournament
KATHMANDU: Friends Cricket Club is all set to organize the First Riddhi Siddhi Marwari Championship League T20 Cricket Tournament from December 24 to January 7 at Laboratory School and Modern Indian School. Friends Cricket Club organized a press conference on Tuesday and informed that the final match will be played at the TU Cricket Ground. Altogether 12 teams will participate in the tournament.
The 12 teams will be divided in two pools consisting six teams each. To make the tournament more interesting the organizers has allowed including two non-Marwari players in the squad. The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 100,000 and the runner up will get Rs 50,000. The organizers have announced to provide exciting gift hampers and cash prizes to the semifinalists as well as to the player of the tournament, the best batsman and the best bowler.
Mahabir at rock bottom despite win
KATHMANDU: Mahabir Club registered its second win in the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull B Division League on Tuesday but remained at the bottom of the points table. Mahabir defeated Chyasal Youth Club 3-2 to dent the hope of latter team to get promotion in the A division. Tarzan Thapa opened the scoring for Mahabir and Santosh Ghale added two goals while Sharan Bhujel and Arun Shrestha scored a goal each for Chyasal.
With the win, Mahabir has six points from 10 matches while Chyasal has 16 points from 10 matches. In the second match of the day at the Nepal Police Training Center, Maharajgunj, Gyan Bhairab edged past Kathmandu Club 1-0 as Kiran Subba scored for the winning side. Gyan Bhairab has 12 points from 10 matches and remains at the 10th position. Kathmandu Club has 14 points and the seventh position in the league table.
