New working committee at DPNet-Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The fifth general meeting of the Disaster Preparedness Network, Nepal has elected its new working committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Min Bahadur Paudyal Chhetri.



Similarly, Pitambar Aryal is the vice president, Ram Chandra Neupane the general secretary and Surya Bahadur Thapa the treasurer of the new working committee. [break]



The members are Bishnu Prasad Kharel, Deepak Paudel, Gopal Dahal, Nibha Upreti, Ram Singh Yana, Mridula Sharma and Dularaj Chimauriya.



Established in 1996, the Disaster Preparedness Network (DPNet-Nepal) is envisioned as a loose association of individual organizations within the development sector in Nepal, which are concerned with disaster management.



The network aims to assist individuals and organizations to prepare for, and respond to and manage disaster should it strike. DPNet-Nepal works closely with Government of Nepal through its agencies, which are concerned with disaster preparedness and management.



DPNet-Nepal complements the effort of these agencies to inform and prepare organizations and communities to deal effectively with disasters.



DPNet-Nepal are concerned with natural disasters such as earthquake, floods, droughts and landslide. It will also cover disasters such as epidemic, flood and fire that occur often in towns and villages.
