KATHMANDU, Dec 31: A new working committee has been elected in the Computer Association of Nepal Federation (CAN Federation). The 15th General Assembly of the Federation, which started on December 28, has elected a new working committee under the leadership of Sunaina Ghimire Pandey as the president.
The CAN Federation has elected its first female president in its history. She is also the Managing Director of the software development company, General Technology. The vice presidents of the 15th working committee of the Federation are Harka Bahadur Seti, Chiranjibi Adhikari, Nabin Joshi, Shekar Nath Dulal, Subhash Khadka, and Srijana Shrestha. Chandra Bilash Bhurtel has been elected as the General Secretary, and Bikram Singh has been elected as the Treasurer.
Great Leadership: A Road Less Traveled
The secretaries elected are Sarita Neuupane, Agma Malakar, Deepak Sah, Saruna Shrestha, Maniraj Pandey, Ram Kishor Rawal, and Karnaraj Paneru. Similarly, the executive members elected are Umesh Raghuwanshi, Dhurba Raj Sharma, Keshav Prasad Bhattarai, Narayan Prasad Shrestha, Thakur Kumar Shrestha, Hempal Shrestha, Shila Kansakar Karki, Dipendra Paudel, Raju Kattel, Chintamani Bastola, and others.
Bhanu Bhakta Sharma has been elected as the coordinator of the writing committee, and Santosh Dhungana and Puja Agarwal as members. The newly elected president, Pandey, expressed gratitude to everyone who helped her achieve consensus and stated that collective efforts will be made to address the issues seen in the information technology sector. She emphasized the need for policy reforms to develop Nepal as an IT hub and to promote it as an international destination, adding that she will make special efforts for this.
The newly elected General Secretary, Bhurtel, expressed his commitment to focus on expanding the scope of the CAN Federation and to achieve the goals by adopting concrete strategies for institutional reforms.
Established in 1992, the CAN Federation has played a leading role in the development, expansion, and promotion of the information and communication technology sector. After transforming in 2015, the organization has expanded its branches to all seven provinces and 74 districts. The 'CAN Infotech' event organized annually by the Federation is considered Nepal's largest technology-related exhibition.
