SPORTS BRIEFS: Ojha to lead University Sports

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The first general assembly of the University Sports Association elected Khagendra Prasad Ojha as its president on Friday. Ojha and the 15-member executive committee were elected unopposed.



Pradeep Joshi is senior vice-president in the committee while Dr Gyanendra Paudel, Dr Lal Mani Pandey, Dr Kanhaiya Jha, Binay Bhattarai and Sanu Ghale are vice-presidents.[break]



Purna Singh Bohara is general secretary of the committee while Deepak Bista and Ajita Sharma are secretary and treasurer respectively. Meanwhile, the first general assembly of Nepal Jorkhane Sports Association unanimously elected Karna Bahadur Shahi as its president.



Excelsior Cup from Sunday


KATHMANDU: The Excelsior School will organize the First Excelsior Cup from Sunday. According to the organizers, 16 teams will participate in the senior category of basketball while 13 teams are in the junior category.



Likewise, 12 teams are participating in five-a-side football. All the matches during the 10-day event will be played in league-cum-knockout format. Addressing the press, director of the school Ram Basnet said that they were organizing the tournament to increase the level of sporting activities at the school level.
