KATHMANDU, April 23: Co-Chairman of the ruling Madhesi People´s Rights Forum Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta has said that it´s within the government´s rights to take action against the army chief, and he´s also said that the army must obey the government´s orders. "We believe that the Nepal Army must respect rule of law," said Gupta, who is also the Agriculture and Cooperatives minister.

And although he conceded that the government must follow the governing laws while taking decisions against the army chief, he also mentioned that the Nepal Army was not inclusive in nature and that a monolithic ethos still reigned over it.

The leaders of Gupta´s party, however, are clearly divided on whether or not they should move forward with the process of taking action against the army chief.
