33 families displaced by flood in Gorkha

GORKHA, July 10: Soti bazaar at Thumi VDC-6 in the district has been inundated by the flash flood occurred in the Budhigandaki River last night.

The flood has swept away some half a dozen of the total 33 houses in the area, said a local Sapana Panta.Panta added that the remaining houses are also at high risk of flood. A joint team of the Nepalese Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force rescued the locals and shifted them to safer zones.

Chief district officer (CDO) Uddhav Prasad Timalsena informed that the security bodies have evacuated the locals. He added that the water level in the river is gradually decreasing. RSS
