On the occasion, Culture Minister Khagendra Prasain and literary figures offered garlands and bunches of flowers to the portrait of legendary figure Acharya.
Prime Minister Khanal who also attended a ceremony organized Bhanu Foundation Kathmandu at the Nepal Academy to mark 198th birth anniversary of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya has said Adikavi Bhanubhakta undertook a laudable task of prospering Nepali language by elevating it to the epic standard.
He said the publication of tens of thousands copies of the Bhanubhakta-scripted Ramayana reflected the popularity of his literary piece.
PM further said literary creation of Bhanubhakta has the blending of simple use of Nepali language, fragrance of folk tone and ground reality of Nepali lifestyle.
The contribution by Bhanubhakta in building emotional unity between Nepal and Nepali people is high, said the Prime Minister, recalling Acharya´s laudable task of spreading awareness in society through Nepali language.
He expressed the government´s readiness to extend necessary financial assistance in the establishment of national level museum in Chundi Ramgha of Tanahun – the birthplace of Bhanu – and mark the double centenary birth anniversary of the national figure.
Vice-chancellor of the Academy Dr. Ganga Uprety said Bhanubhakta´s great contribution to the nation should be remembered forever.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Khanal felicitated literary figure duo Anandadev Bhatta and Toya Gurung by offering them shawls.
Stanzas of Bhanubhakta´s most popular creation Ramayana were recited at the function.
