KATHMANDU, June 12: The Cabinet has sought clarification from K B Limbu, managing director of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), on a number of irregularities, including the mysterious disappearance of a flyway kit from an NAC aircraft.

Limbu had recently taken some controversial decisions like giving new appointments, grounding pilots and barring chairman Kansakar from attending the office among others.[break] The cabinet has charged him of power misuse and taking decisions on several issues by bypassing the board of directors.

The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has already formed a committee to look into the mysterious disappearance of the flyway kit. The kit costs about Rs 45 million.

The ailing national flag carrier is suffering from a host of problems mainly due to prolonged dispute over executive power. Because of the dispute, NAC Chairman Sugat Ratna Kansakar´s office was locked after he was given a clean chit on Airbus deal. As a result, he has been signing attendance register at the MoTCA.

Limbu has been asked to furnish clarification within three days.
