The deceased children of Bhim Bahadur BK of Bengri village in the VDC have been identified as 16-year-old Shiva BK, 12-year-old Shanti BK and 8-year-old Gore BK. [break]
The injured have been identified as Khagi BK, 45, Humi BK, 25, Manisha BK, 22, and two-year-olds Krishna BK and Sushila BK, according to District Police Office, Baglung.
Of the injured, Khagi and Manisha were airlifted to Kathmandu on a Fishtail Air helicopter for treatment. Both are in critical condition. The other three are being treated at a Primary Health Post in Burtibang.
The house collapsed at around 3 am Friday following heavy rainfall since Thursday evening, according to DSP Bikash Raj Khanal. All the members of the household were asleep when the house collapsed.
The injured were rescued by locals and then sent for treatment with the help of the police.
“All of us went to sleep after dinner,” said Humi, who was hardly conscious at Burtibang Primary Health Post. “There was a sudden noise and we were trapped under wood. I don´t remember anything after that.”
Bhim Bahadur survived the tragedy as he was sleeping in another house where his mother lives. He had built the house this year, and his family started living in it only a month ago.
