28 more police personnel contract coronavirus, tally at police headquarters rises to 72

KATHMANDU, July 31: Twenty-eight more police personnel at the Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal, have been tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


According to Nepal Police Spokesperson SSP Kuber Kadayat, they were tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday evening. With this, the total number of COVID-19 infected police personnel serving at the police headquarters has reached to 72.

The first few cases of COVID-19 among police personnel serving at Nepal Police Headquarters were reported a week ago. The number has risen significantly as tests were conducted among other police personnel as a part of contact tracing measures. 


The police personnel tested positive for the virus have been sent to Armed Police Force (APF) Hospital in Balambu for treatment, according to SSP Kadayat.


A total of 250 police personnel serving in different parts of the country have so far tested positive for COVID-19. "Of them, more than 100 police personnel recovered," he said.
