KHOTANG, June 19: As many as 20 independent candidates have field their nominations for the upcoming second phase of local level election in the district. Scores of the independent candidates have field for the post of mayor of municipality, chairperson and vice chairperson of the rural municipality and ward chief and members.
The district election office has informed that one thousand five hundred 67 including 20 independent candidates have filed their name for the upcoming second phase of the local level polls slated for June 28.
NC expels rebel candidates for five years
Most of the independent candidates are the rebel leaders and cadres of the political parties. They are standing against the official candidates from the political parties following the dissatisfaction with the district level parties.
The voters are electing their local representatives for four hundred 15 different posts of 69 wards, eight rural municipalities and two municipalities in the district.
