2 more to be appointed as SRC members

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Major political parties have decided to appoint Dr Madan Pariyar as a member of the State Restructuring Commission (SRC) from the Dalit quota while the government has also promised to appoint a Muslim representative in the commission.



A joint-meeting of the UCPN (Maoist), the Nepali Congress (NC), the UML and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) at Gokarna Resort on Sunday agreed to appoint Pariyar in the SRC.



Similarly, the government has inked a six-point agreement with the Sahid Faizan Ahmed Struggle Committee to appoint a Muslim representative in the commission.



The SRC will have nine-members after appointment of the two. Meanwhile, the government has agreed to declare Faizan Ahmed a martyr once the high level probe commission on Ahmed´s murder submits its report to the government next month.



Ahmed, General Secretary of Islami Sangh Nepal (ISN), was killed by unidentified group in the capital on September 26.
