The two have been identified as Khadga Bahadur Tamang, of about 35 years, from Bara and Bikash Rai, of about 25 years, from Solukhumbu. However, Rohit, the main perpetrator of the incident and the chief of Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Trade Unions Federation (Revolutionary), Balaju Industrial Area chapter, is still absconding, according to Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, deputy superintendent of police.
On Sunday, Rohit had brought a gang of around 15 persons and physically assaulted Bhandari during a press conference organized at IAML headquarter in Balaju. They had fled the scene after seriously injuring Bhandari and Keshav Prasad Parajuli, a senior assistant of IAML. Bhandari was later admitted to Manmohan Memorial Hospital at Sorhakhutte.
According to an official of Balaju Industrial Area Limited, Rohit and other assaulters had attacked Bhandari for the role he played in removing Maoists from the camps that they had set up on the properties of IAML throughout the country.
